ICON is a group of women from the Colchester area whose interests in photography are varied and evolving.
Cameras are now exclusively digital but a variety of techniques are used. Some of us travel and bring back images from afar; some explore the locality, even the backyard.
The common thread between us is that photography has become entrenched in our lives, be it as an interest or a real passion. As the issues surrounding photography today are more complex than ever and the methods of image-making more varied, ICON provides a forum where these can be discussed.
We meet monthly. We do not have competitions but regularly show our work to each other, sometimes giving praise and at other times constructive criticism. Our aim is to give each other encouragement and support.
